EXPERIENCE ARAB MUSIC INSTRUCTION FROM MASTER TEACHING ARTISTS!

Led by music director and violin virtuoso HANNA KHOURY with percussionist HAFEZ KOTAIN and cellist/maqam theory specialist KINAN ABOU-AFACH, the Philadelphia Arab Music Ensemble and Philadelphia Arab Percussion Ensembles are community ensembles open to middle/high school and college students and adults. Singers and percussionists of all skill levels and intermediate to advanced instrumentalists (must read music) of strings and wind are invited to join. No audition is necessary. Comments from Fall 2015 participants:- ... Arabic ensemble was one of my favorite classes as it brightened my mood every Thursday. The dedication and expertise of Professor Khoury coupled with the students’ united effort to learn songs created a blissful atmosphere that I loved being a part of. I’m incredibly grateful to my friends for recommending the class to me as it’s an incredible outlet for me to pursue something creative. - Richa- The last few classes of choir are always my favorite. It is at this point of the semester that all the work and effort we have been putting in throughout the semester begins to culminate and our hard work really begins to feel like it is paying off. - Khaled- I really enjoyed the poetry reading event I went to earlier in the semester and wish I was able to stay on Thursday to hear Dalal Abu Amneh. I think one of my favorite things about the Arab ensemble class is the fact that we are able to have such great singers come talk to us and we have the pleasure of singing with them. - Yousra- I was glad that I had the opportunity to listen and sing with our wonderful performer Dalal Abu Amneh! - Olly
