Al-Bustan Artist Workshop Program
Al-Bustan is looking for teaching artists with a skill to share with our community. The Al-Bustan Artist Workshop Program will pilot at our hub this fall, with workshops running one day a week for approximately 4-6 weeks.
Al-Bustan, Arabic for "The Garden," offers structured exposure to language, art, architecture, music, dance, literature, and the natural environment of the Arab world. Through artistic and educational programs, Al-Bustan promotes cross-cultural understanding among youth and adults of all ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. Al-Bustan supports the pursuit and affirmation of Arab American cultural identity while playing a constructive, civic role within broader American society.
This opportunity is open to all artists interested in offering workshops fulfilling our mission of uplifting SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa) culture through music, fine art, or artisanal craft. Workshops will take place at our hub at 310 W Master Street. Before applying, we encourage artists to visit our space, which functions as an art gallery, office, and community space.
Interested artists should submit workshop proposals in the form of an overall summary of the proposed course, a resume, student work samples, and a website or portfolio of current work. Fall workshops will cater to adults only, but we plan to expand our offerings as the program grows. Al-Bustan will promote selected workshops and will require a minimum enrollment to run.
We look forward to receiving and reviewing your proposals!
