Gaza Habibti

Untold Palestine is a project of Yura: Visual Storytelling for Social Change, a non-profit company founded in Berlin, Germany, in 2002.  Yura is a collective of photographers and people telling their stories through photojournalism and visual storytelling outside of stereotypical narratives from mainstream media and the greater public sphere. The vision is to show an alternative, re-humanized picture of Palestinian people. 

The collective writes, “In the current war, we have questioned our work and wondered whether stories of hopes and dreams are even appropriate in the face of excessive brutality and death. We mourn the loss of friends and members of our families in Gaza, but decided that particularly in these times of heightened hatred and dehumanization, we want to continue our approach, reinforcing our claim to dignity and freedom.”

Al-Bustan is honored to open space for this vision to our community in Philadelphia, presenting Gaza Habibti, a selection of images and stories from the Untold Palestine collection.
