Children at Al-Bustan Camp explored the arts and culture of Andalusia through the life and accomplishments of Ziryab (789-857), a musician who served as arbiter of taste, style and manners. Andalusia was a state of the Islamic Empire that flourished as a place of learning, artistic achievement, and scientific development beginning in the 8th century. Using collage to create imges representative of Andalusian culrure, Al-Bustan Campers made a collective Arabic alphabet. This project became the basis for an online Arabic language game: www.albustanseeds.org/game
